Many of the rights
that Swedish workers take for granted, such as a guaranteed five-week vacation
and high minimum salaries, come from the work of union activists. They are
still very powerful compared to other countries. One of the largest unions, the
Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) owns over 50% of the Swedish newspaper
Aftonbladet and has close ties with the Social Democrats, a political party.
