This weekend, we packed two vans with all the bagels and apples and energy drinks that would fit and went to Blaine, WA. From there, we ran a relay race down to Langley on Southern Whitbey Island, a total of 180 miles!

Phew! I had forgotten how much time it takes to edit stuff together when you have a lot of material. But this is the video from this years camp, I hope you can tell how much fun everyone had. The staff, the campers, the crew - everyone just seemed to be having a ball. I loved being there and I hope to come back next week and film a little bit more.

Family vacation

First day at camp

Human bowling, fishing and lots of laughters. That's probably how I would sum up today's first visit to Kiwani's camp for children and adults with special needs. Did lots of interviews and took lots of pictures. Will share the video later, but here are some of the pics from today -

New summer plan

So much stuff has happened, I feel as though bullet points will serve me well:

• Went for a four hour horseback ride in the backcountry with wonderful neighbor girl Johanna yesterday and man, can I feel it in my thighs today! But I am looking forward to many more this summer, because...
• I was laid off from my job at the shipyard - turns out, there are not that many boats coming in during the summer so my department is not needed. Plenty of spare time on my hands - but I quickly found something to do!
• This week, I will be volunteering at a camp for children and adults with special needs. Together we are going to make a short movie that we can show donors, parents and caregivers! I think it will be a lot of fun.
• This weekend, Jon's aunt and uncle from San Francisco are coming up for a visit! They are just amazing and I really look forward to that too.
• I have booked the Gardiner Community Center for our second wedding celebration on August 27th.
• Today, I was walking around barefoot in the garden when my feet touched something wet. Lakrits was suddenly very interested in what it was, and I looked more carefully at it and realized it was part of either a) a mole or b) a rat that Jon must have run over with the lawn mower yesterday. Mmmmm! Nice.
• In two weeks, I am running the Ragnar race together with a bunch of fun people. It is a relay race, from the border of Canada to Whitbey island. Am in no way in shape to do this, but will do it anyways.

It has been three crazy weeks of driving around the beautiful west coast with the whole family. Absolutely, amazingly wonderful and yesterday when I left that airport I must admit I shed a tear or two. There hasnt been much time for updating the blog, but I will be posting pictures from our trip for the next couple of days...
